Three Arizona cities made the top 10 list of U.S. cities with the highest increase in residents seeking rental housing.<\/span><\/p>\n

Gilbert, Arizona<\/p><\/div>\n

Gilbert, a suburb of Phoenix, had the highest increase in renters of any U.S. city over the past 10 years, according to a new survey from Rent Cafe, which looked at\u00a0100 of the biggest U.S. cities by population. In all but three of the cities surveyed, residents looking to rent are outpacing those looking to purchase a home.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the survey, Gilbert’s population more than doubled over the past decade and the majority of new residents chose to rent. The city experienced a 53 percent increase in renters.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mesa and Glendale also made the top 10 cities list,\u00a0 with each increasing its renter share by 30 percent. Chandler and Scottsdale also saw notable rental gains\u201423 percent and 17 percent increase in renter share respectively.<\/span><\/p>\n
